Leave no trace

An injured and disorientated climber regains consciousness in a mountain Bothy. With no memory of how he got there, first he must deal with his life-threatening injuries. Only then can he deal with who or what caused them.

About the making of Superterranean

Superterranean (2020) is my first feature film, a dark folktale shot on a shoestring budget with a skeleton crew, it took years to make. It saw us shooting on the summits of Munros, on cold bothy floors and in the hills at midnight.

When making this film, the challenges kept on coming. It was a complicated, gruelling movie to shoot and the release was hampered by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Determined to use this project as an opportunity to develop my skills, I took on the entirety of the pre and post-production roles, including writing, producing, sound-mixing, colour grading and scoring the film.

About Sair Ane

Sair Ane means “sore one”, and is a Scots’ phrase used to express sympathy for a person’s misfortune:

Filmed in a single location with no budget and no crew during the strictest lockdown restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic, this little video nasty is not for the faint hearted.

Don't try this at home

It is 1750, the height of the Highland Clearances. Recently and reluctantly promoted, a man travels to a remote crofting community in the far North of Scotland to evict the tenants unaware that they, in an act of defiance against the landowner, have unleashed a terrifying creature of folklore.

Forced into an unthinkable journey across a hostile wilderness, the man quickly attracts the attention of more magical creatures.

The Gudeman weaves themes of loss and transition during a turbulent period of Scottish history with a story of personal redemption, social responsibility and healing from trauma during the darkest of times.

About The Gudeman

Every filmmaker has that project that one day they dream they will breath life into. For me, it's The Gudeman.

The script began forming around 2010 and, from it's inception, it had everything I wanted in a film woven into the DNA.

Pre-production began in 2020 with work concentrating on location scouting and building creatures and props.

Now in production, it's hard to believe how much work has already gone into the film. I can't fully describe what it felt like to walk through a remote patch of heather, surrounded by mountains with not a human in sight, a goblin in a box strapped to my back and a drone somewhere overhead. In those moments, it felt like we weren't making a film but actually living inside the story.

Filmed on anamorphic lenses in some of the remotest places in Scotland during Autumn, The Gudeman is a visual feast with a backdrop as epic as the story.

An Gordonach

The Gordons!

An Gordonach is the battle cry of the Gordon Clan. With the emblem of a stag and the motto "Bydand" (Bide and fecht, or 'stand and fight'), the Clan has a reputation for its steadfast and undaunted approach. When the Gordon Brothers make a film, we don't do things the easy way. We work hard, in whatever the conditions and we get the job done. Our ideas are our own, whether I'm working with my brother or my friends, we don't compromise and we don't answer to anyone. We have a vision and the courage to see it through. When you see An Gordonach at the start of a film, prepare for battle!
